JPG works well for photographs and complex scenes. It keeps files relatively small, but it is not ideal when you need transparency.
PNG is stronger for graphics, logos, screenshots, and images that need a transparent background. Files can be larger, especially for photos.
WEBP often offers a good balance: smaller files than PNG for many graphics, and competitive quality for photos when configured carefully.
Choose based on the job. Use JPG or WEBP for photos, PNG when transparency matters, and convert between formats when a platform or design tool needs a specific type.
If you are unsure, start with the original format, convert a test copy, and compare clarity and file size side by side.
